Great place to stop. Friday serving great hamburgers, sausage dogs. Great people that know the history of the area. Nice small store & hand made items. Items of interest & photo's of the town that Chunky once was.
Awesome place... beautiful, well maintained, family atmosphere... Love it!
We unfortunately went when the river was low so at a lot of points we had to get off the canoe and walk it past the rocky low points. Nevertheless, it didn't keep us from having a heck of a time! Tip: call ahead and ask about the river flow and balance you canoe when packing it with gear to avoid it flipping down river.
What a sweet find! Want to do something different? Come over to Chunky River Recreation. Bring your camp gear, rent one of their kayaks/canoes, throw your gear in and row down the river to set up camp! We found a beautiful sandy beach halfway down river between our launch area and our pickup point. Talk about getting away for the weekend! There's no road access to these beaches and they're perfect for camp setups! Plenty of small wildlife and views to enjoy all long the Chunky River. It's perfect for the whole family.
